Concept

Rebirth is a site-specific performance at a sea limen; exhibited as an immersive video installation of three synchronised surrounding projections. The immersive work has been based on the concept of body/water ritual; focusing on the process of a spiritual rebirth exemplified through visual and spatial qualities of video and performance. The juxtaposed visual and spatial elements of sea, forest and liminal site of dock draw semiotic connections with thinking and emotional processes. Catharsis can be often a geo-located process; it takes place into site; in front of horizon. Rebirth forms one of the early video/installation works of Bill Psarras, where he gradually develops an interest on spiritual and transitory processes; merging performative gesture, site qualities and audiovisual aesthetics.
