Haptic/Eyes/Public

“light up a public space with ephemeral projection of colourful eyes. Who’s watching who?”

artist notes (2011, 2016)

Concept

Vision forms an intrusive, voyeuristic sense; a haptic process from distance, revealing levels of intimacy. Haptic/Eyes/Public creates an ephemeral atmosphere of colour within exhibition space; transient and ambient. It focuses on the dynamic relationship between artwork and viewer through a repetitive visual/light haptic process with poetic and political implications. The eye explores haptically the surrounding space and the viewers, an in-between process of both pleasure and annoyance. The work highlights a lyrical irony between public space/image and personal space/image.
